Success Is Not Final, Failure Is Not Fatal, It Is The Courage To Continue That Counts

Wow what a timing! Two days before GATE results and I read this “Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts”. This is a very powerful statement and true after every single result in life. Whenever we face some result we need to look at this. This post is dedicated to all those who did awesome in GATE and all those who gave their best but finally landed in shock.
This state came as a great inspiration to me since a long time. Being an average student has helped me every single time I was depressed. Just to share with you all, I have never been a class topper and on the same time in every beginning of the semester I used to get ready to beat the best student of the class. Because I was friends with all topers in class, I couldn’t get a chance to share with them.
As the life moves you will realize that this statement is true and that every single word in it perfectly suites anyone in any situation. When I looked back and tried to trace topper in engineering and M.Tech, I felt that it is really hard to find them, even in this era of internet and connectivity. Where have they all gone? Is it that their success has shown them something in a form of a final destination and they have decided to stay there? Probably true.
Another thing I learned from life and experience is that every failure lands you in a better opportunity. If you had gone to IITs, you might have probably not thought about PhD. If you had been accepted by some central university for PhD, which I was trying hard, you wouldn’t have seen the IITs and their life. I missed an IBM job offer, even after receiving the best PhD student award, but I ended up joining Samsung which offered a much better position.
To cut the long story short, GATE results are not going to shape your life, It is totally your approach to move forward in your life that’s going to. Bad GATE result might even land you in a state of shock, depression and hopelessness or make you think about where you went wrong and how you could recover from it? Good GATE result might either make you happy and contended or make you even more desperate to achieve your excellence? These are all matters in life.
Let me share a snippet from Allah Iqbal (I am a diehard fan of him), who is a great Urdu poet, who also wrote “Sare Jahan Se Acha Hindustan Hamara”.
Sitaron se aage jahan aur bhi hain
Abhi Ishq ke imtehan aur bhi hain
Its close English translation is below. Please I would remain thankful if someone gives me a better translation of it.
There is lot more world beyond stars
Still there is a lot be testified in love (or) Still there is a lot to face in love

The poet says that there is a lot to do after a success and there are many more tests to be faced, don’t think it is an end of the Game. Success or failure in GATE exam is not all. There is a lot to come for both GATE and non GATE students in coming days. Stay cool and keep in touch with studentclick.in.
Picture Abhi Baaki Hai (movie is still remaining)
Wish you all a great luck in M.Tech 2011 Admissions.
